CALIFORNIA IS RANKED #1 IN EDUCATION ACROSS THE NATION!

The above caption is what we should be reading in our Newspapers and across the Internet. Sadly, California is very low on the list. California’s educational system is in need of major reform and that reform must happen NOW! We have an EDUCATIONAL EMERGENCY! I am not talking about the reform that other politicians are talking about. I am talking about DEEP-SEATED and PRODUCTIVE reform. Reform that will restore California’s Education System and change our Government morality.

Tom Mortenson, senior scholar at the Pell Institute for the Study of Opportunity in Higher Education presented in a report prepared for the California Faculty Association (see www.calfac.org/calattheedge.html), statistics on higher education, but also stated:

“…The really bad news, however, is in the share of adults who are high school graduates. In one generation, California has dropped from the top to the bottom. The state was No. 1 or No. 2 from 1977 to 1987; today we're at No. 49. Ouch.”

Why did you and I let this happen?

Year after year the people of California are lied to. We are told that our schools are improving. This is a complete and blatant lie.

To have good schools we first must have honesty and a mentally well government. Honesty, courage, humility, kindness, generosity, and patriotism have been eliminated from many texts." Perhaps the clearest example is from President, Ronald Reagan, who had this to say about education's basic purpose:

"We're beginning to realize, once again, that education at its core is more than just teaching our young the skills that are needed for a job, however important that is. It's also about passing on to each new generation the values that serve as the foundation and cornerstone of our free democratic society--patriotism, loyalty, faithfulness, courage, the ability to make the crucial moral distinctions between right and wrong, the maturity to understand that all that we have and achieve in this world comes first from a beneficent and loving God."

Our Founding Fathers provided for 28 core values. Here are a few: Honesty, Reverence, Hope, Piety, Humility, Thrift, Charity, Sincerity, Moderation, Hard Work, Courage, and Personal Responsibility.

WHY ON EARTH WOULD ANY SOUND MINDED GOVERNMENT MAKE THE DECISION TO TAKE THE REINFORCEMENT OF THESE CORE VALUES OUT OF OUR SCHOOL ~ THE VERY PLACE WHERE OUR CHILDREN LEARN?

And then they teach our young boys to put a condom on a cucumber and our young girls all about abortion (your parents never have to know) shall the child honor the teachings of the school more than his/her own parents?

Maybe the following prayer* can shed some light on how we got to where we are:

“Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to
seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call
evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done.

We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.

We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.

We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.

We have killed our unborn and called it choice.

We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.

We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self-esteem.

We have abused power and called it politics.

We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition.

We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression.

We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.

MY PLAN FOR A BETTER EDUCATION SYSTEM IN CALIFORNIA

Each school will belong to its rightful owner ~ Parents and Teachers

I say again each school will belong to its rightful owner; Parents and Teachers.

HOW WILL I DO THIS?

· I will declare a “state of emergency” in our educational system;

· I will completely disassemble the current educational bureaucracy;

· I will not bow down to Unions! Unions do not own our Education System;

· I will let the parents select the teachers and other school staff;

· Once the teachers are selected for a given school the parents and their newly selected teachers will make all appropriate decisions regarding the school’s teaching curriculum, books, calendar school year, operation, maintenance, etc.;

· Each school will have its own school board consisting of elected “Parents & Teachers”;

· Each school shall be accountable to its members (Parents & Teachers) and stand as its own entity;

· Each school will be its own school district;

· The State will require that all students meet nationwide scholastic aptitude levels before graduating;

· I can only accomplish this with your support and your vote, by you sharing this information with others and e-mailing everyone you know. You can do this!

The benefits are what our children, our society and our government will gain. We will have children who embrace the moral values that make up an honest and fruitful society.

The result of this radical reform will be the highest school grades in the nation, bringing California to #1 in the Nation for Education. More importantly, is what our communities, our government and what society will gain. Sound, individuals with values and morals who will one day run this Nation.

For those parents who want the Ten Commandments back in their school, then a two-thirds vote shall determine the outcome. For those parents who want Atheism in their school, then that is what they will have. Parents shall vote, and two thirds of the vote shall decide who gets hired and/or fired. The selection of a teacher is based on the ability to teach and each teacher shall be held accountable. This will create competition for excellent teachers. This will also open communication between children and Parents as Parents will have to know which teachers the children like and will learn from.

By allowing the Parents to choose the Teachers, the Parents gain a vested interest in their child’s education. Mothers and Fathers only want the very best for their children. If the majority of the parents decide that their curriculum shall not teach boys how to wear a condom and how the girls can obtain an abortion, then so be it. If the majority of the parents want their children to be taught abstinence, then so be it. If the majority of the parents do not want their children to be taught that it is ok for Jack and Jim to be married and have children, then so be it.

You might ask how the mentally ill government can make this drastic change. It is estimated that we have a 24 billion dollar debt at this time. This debt of 24 billion dollars with interest added translates into a long-term debt of over ½ trillion dollars. We are in fiscal crisis! I will call for a “state of emergency” act. And one part of this act will be to eliminate all the bureaucracy in our school system. An example would be the book publishers warehouse their books as they print them. Then they deliver them to our state warehouse and that’s where the bureaucracy starts. To eliminate this waste of buildings and personnel you can order your books of choice directly from the manufacturer of your choice. I have all my faith in the Moms and Dads. After looking at the bureaucracy of the government I have no faith in our mentally ill state government. We’re currently facing a tsunami in Teacher’s Union Retirement and other benefits. Those benefits are sucking the life out of our educational system by wiping out all of the funds that were intended to provide education to students. Only by cutting wasteful spending and bureaucracy will we save the billions needed to reform education and cut deep into the high tuitions our college students are now paying.

Each school will be accountable by a yearly audit, as each school will have a yearly fund electronically deposited in the bank closest to their school. This deposit will be approximately $5,000.00 - $7,000.00 per student. Where will these funds come from? Currently education funds come from property taxes and an estimated 40% is applied to education.

Retired teachers, librarians and other educated citizens, will test all students before the school year. They will not be multiple choice, they will be pencil and paper, they will given the questions verbally and on the black board, no computers, no calculators and this way no one can question the increase in grades and those that do the testing will be chosen to a school at a random draw. And that way the school will not know who is doing the exam.

As a disciplinary measure each school will have a three strikes method. Parents and teachers will work together to formulate the criteria for the three-strike system. Should a student receive three strikes, he/she will be expelled. The expelled student may apply at another school. He will be given three school choices. The other schools have the option to accept or deny admittance. If he/she applies at all three schools and is denied admittance the rejected student will be required to attend a military school. Should the student receive three strikes at the military school; he/she will be sent to attend school in juvenile hall.

Because the parents and the teachers own the school, they’ll decide what curriculum will be used. And the majority will always have control of the school and curriculum. If the minority is upset, they can always go to another school, where the minority could represent themselves. The state will require that the grade scores be improved to a high acceptable standard on reading, writing, arithmetic, penmanship, true history, and true science.

All eligible students on the GREEN CARD POINT SYSTEM must maintain their attendance, no strikes, and must learn and pass a proficiency exam in English in order to remain students.

Further there would be no fancy exercise/fitness machines, you have track, kickball, soccer, basketball, softball, monkey bars, sit-ups and chin-ups and this eliminates the likelihood of frivolous lawsuits the purchasing of the equipment, the maintenance of the equipment. Kids have been exercising without fitness machines for 100’s of years and are able to stay fit without them. It constitutes frivolous spending to buy elaborate fitness equipment that requires expensive maintenance and replacement contracts, additional security, additional building space, and only increases the possibility of injury to a student.

The parents, the teachers and the State of California will be required to sign an agreement that they are one body to keep from having lawsuits from suing one of the bodies thereby cutting the cost of frivolous lawsuits.

The staff and parents will be responsible for all maintenance and upkeep of their schools, which is another cost saving measure.
